2010
Scanfill turns 10!
Time flies when you’re having fun. In conjunction with our 10-year celebrations, we installed a new compounding extruder, doubling our capacity and enabling us to meet a growing demand.

The first inquiry
While Scanfill did not yet exist, Polykemi – the Polykemi Group’s parent company – was in full production and was beginning to receive inquiries for plastic material for packaging. Mineral‑filled PP, to be precise. Why not? we thought, and so began the Scanfill project.
Scanfill founded
One little project was not enough. We founded Scanfill AB as a subsidiary to Polykemi AB. By now, we were thinking of producing plastic granules for the production of packaging.
Foil production begins
This was the year we installed our first foil extruder. It was a demo machine, and our intention was to deliver rolls of foil to customers, allowing them to make small scale tests.
Foil extruder #2 is installed
We went with our customers and their demand. We installed our second extruder only four years after installation of the first. Our production soon switched from mostly granulate to 95 percent foil.
2019
Foil production flagship
Our third foil extruder allowed us to streamline our production and enabled new foil layer structures, mainly PP with EVOH, but also other upgraded multilayer structures modified to suit their purposes.
2020
JiHå + thermoformer = PS & PET
During the year, we acquired JiHå Plast, once again increasing the number of foil extruders. We also added a full-scale thermoformer to our laboratory. Thanks to the acquisition and the new machines, we were able to increase our product program to also include PS and PET.
2022
Materialsmart
Welcome to Materialsmart! Together with Polykemi Group, we launched an entirely new concept and a CO₂-calculator that left the industry stunned. We demonstrated our new ability to perform detailed calculations of the amount of CO₂e per kilo of Scanfill material produced.
2023
Ready for PPWR
We invested in larger, more complex equipment and increased our capacity, in particular for foil made from recycled plastic material. The investment means we are currently well on track with PPWR, the EU’s Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation.
2025
ISCC PLUS ×2
We were certified for traceability in production and the supply of bio-circular mass-balance plastic material back in 2023. In 2025, we received our second ISCC PLUS certification; it guarantees total traceability in production and the supply of recycled, mass-balance plastic raw material.
2026
Generation shift in the Group
Polykemi was founded in 1968 by Hugo Jönsson. In 1997, Hugo’s sons Ola Hugoson and Lars Hugosson took over, and in 2026 it was time for the third generation to lead Polykemi Group – and thus Scanfill – into the future.
