Recycled plastic material has taken giant strides forward since its entry into the market. With the right know-how, controls and sources, packaging made from recycled plastic material has a quality comparable with foil from virgin material.

Scanfoil rPP is a thermoforming foil made from recycled plastic material. The foil has properties comparable with those of a foil made from virgin polypropylene. Scanfoil rPP is low density and has great potential for adaptation to your preferences. Packaging made from Scanfoil rPP can be recycled again.
Scanfoil rPP Prevented Ocean Plastic (POP) is a thermoforming foil that consists of up to 100 per cent mechanically recycled PCR from PP (polypropylene). The recycled raw material comes from plastic cups collected in coastal areas in Southeast Asia where they risk polluting marine areas. Scanfoil rPP POP is approved for contact with foodstuffs; it’s recyclable, traceable and provides your packaging with clear green credentials.

Scanfoil rPET is a thermoforming foil based on high-quality recycled plastic material. Both the raw material and the foil meet all safety and hygiene quality requirements applicable to recycled PET (polyethylene terephthalate).

Scanfoil rPET Prevented Ocean Plastic (POP) is a thermoforming foil based on mechanically recycled PCR that achieves excellent transparency and high quality thanks to the high standards imposed on the recycled raw material used. The raw material is collected in coastal areas all over the world where it threatens to pollute the marine environment. Scanfoil rPET POP is traceable to a specific area; it’s recyclable and an excellent choice for providing packaging with clear green credentials.
Polystyrene retains its original properties even when recycled. This makes Scanfoil rPS a versatile thermoforming foil that also has a lower carbon footprint than PS based on virgin material. Good moldability is a property that comes naturally with Scanfoil rPS.
Recycled PS can be recycled again with its good mechanical properties retained.

Traceable recyclables
PCR och PIR
When you purchase foil with recycled content from us, you get a material that contains plastic that has either been used by a consumer (PCR), or is waste from industrial production (PIR). You can also get foil from mixed sources.
PIR (Post-Industrial Recycled) has long been the source that guarantees the highest material quality thanks to its fewer contaminants, and it remains the recycled raw material most readily available in large volumes.
Because a sustainable industry requires us to take care of as much plastic as possible, we’re always busy sourcing PCR (Post-Consumer Recycled) of the highest quality to reintroduce the material into the value chain.
We are certified according to ISCC PLUS, which means the recycled mass balance plastic raw material in your foil is traceable. The certification applies to both PCR and PIR.

Recycled material for thermoforming
Our foils based on recycled raw material have excellent moldability for thermoforming. We conduct regular tests in our thermoformer for product development and in-house monitoring. If you wish, we can help you with prototypes in any of our materials so you can evaluate the finished packaging without starting up your own production.
