The right plastic material for your packaging
Our business idea is to offer the ideal packaging materials for our customers’ products. We do this by guiding our customers through a product program that includes a wide range of polymers, virgin or recycled, biomaterials, and materials reinforced with minerals.
We make sure our customers get a foil that is optimized for their purposes, meets environmental and safety standards by a comfortable margin, and is recyclable at end of use.
We help you find the right foil for your packaging and develop prototypes in close connection to our production.
Our idea
An independent player in a knowledge-based group
Scanfill is a Swedish company with its head office and production in Ystad on the south coast of Sweden.
We’re part of the family-owned Polykemi Group, and we collaborate actively with other companies in the group. This collaboration provides valuable flexibility thanks to daily knowledge sharing, short decision paths and our own inventory holding.
The group’s companies share the head quarters in Ystad, and all of them are dedicated to the development and production of plastic materials for various types of manufacturing industries.
How it all began
Scanfill – today, more than just fill
Scanfill was born out of curiosity and an inherent desire to constantly advance.
When Polykemi, our parent company, received an inquiry about mineral-reinforced packaging material, we began the Scanfill project without a moment’s hesitation. What began as the project designation for a mineral-filled plastic material, soon became the name of this company, the subsidiary Scanfill.
While we still produce mineral-reinforced foil, the major part of our production consists of foils without mineral reinforcements. Today we regard our name more as a tribute to the innovation that launched our journey.
Tomorrow’s packaging material
We are committed to ensuring that our products have as little impact on the environment as possible. We’re constantly looking for new ways to expand our material options, improve transparency and reduce our environmental impact.
Produced in Sweden for Europe
All of our production takes place in Ystad in southern Sweden, close to reliable transport links to the north and south, to all our customers throughout Europe.
A family history
Scanfill’s history dates back to 1968. But we could also say it began in 2006, or 2008. Whatever the date may be, the group that Scanfill forms part of originated through a man named Hugo Jönsson. Since then, the Hugoson & Hugosson families has built the Polykemi Group, company by company.
